Tranmere kept up their unbeaten start to the season at Prenton Park with a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
The match was as close as Rovers boss Ronnie Moore had predicted in his pre-match press talk, but Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's second half strike looked to have given Tranmere all three points. However, a 96th minute equaliser from Jonathan Douglas sent Brentford home with a share of the points.
Moore named an unchanged team following the 5-2 win over Crawley Town, though Adam McGurk returned from injury to take the place of Jake Kirby on the substitutes' bench. Former Rovers loanee Shaleum Logan started at right back for Brentford.
Both sides sent crosses straight through the six yard box in the opening ten minutes but neither were able to capitalise on their opportunities.
Harry Forrester's attempt to lob Owain Fon Williams from 30 yards went over the bar on 11 minutes and the midfielder saew another shot blocked by Ben Gibson four minutes later before Danny Holmes prevented him getting on the end of the rebound inside the six yard box.
Zoumana Bakayogo couldn't quite get on the end of Andy Robinson's through ball on 16 minutes while Taylor had to clear from inside his six yard box 12 minutes later after Paul Hayes headed across goal and towards Forrester.
It needed a strong hand from Fon Williams to keep out Forrester's right foot shot on the angle on 36 minutes after the Bees passed their way through the Rovers defence while Zoumana Bakayogo rescued Tranmere four minutes later as the visitors looked to make the most of a man on the overlap.
Gibson raced back towards his own goal to prevent Jonathan Douglas from having a one on one shooting chance five minutes into the second half after Taylor had conceded possession on the halfway line and the Brentford midfielder fired wide of the target from the edge of the area after Forrester got past Holmes on the left wing.
On 57 minutes Wallace worked his way free on the right wing before whipping in a cross from which Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro rose above his marker only headed wide at the near post.
The striker was involved again two minutes later, this time giving his side the lead. He picked up the ball on the left side of the area and powered his way past a defender before curling a low right foot shot past Simon Moore from the tightest of angles for his fifth goal of the season.
Robinson's 25 yard effort from the left wing was well held by Moore soon after while Palmer's attempt from a central position outside the area was deflected away from the target.
Simon Moore palmed Cassidy's shot away at his near post after the striker's first effort was blocked while another mazy run from Akpa Akpro almost resulted in another goalscoring opportunity on 68 minutes.
Adam McGurk replaced Thompson with five minutes remaining and three minutes later Danny Harrison came on for Wallace in midfield.
Akpa Akpro curled just past the far post on 89 minutes while Brentford went close to a late equaliser with a shot from Sam Saunders that went just wide of the target.
The visitors did level at the death though. A long throw from Clayton Donaldson was allowed to bounce inside the Rovers area and Douglas hooked a volley past Fon Williams into the leftt side of the net.
