Tranmere picked up their second away win in five days with a 1-0 victory over fourth placed Notts County at Meadow Lane.
Substitute Joe Thompson scored his first goal for the Club midway through the first half and Rovers could have scored more.
Abdulai Bell-Baggie hit the woodwork and went close twice and there were good efforts from James Wallace, Adam McGurk and Jake Cassidy.
The win took Rovers to 11 games unbeaten at the start of 2012-13 and maintained their lead at the top of npower League 1.
Ronnie Moore was forced into making one change to the team that started at Scunthorpe as the injured Andy Robinson was replaced by Adam McGurk. Paul Black was named among the substitutes for the first time since joining the Club in the summer while Joe Thompson and Max Power returned to the bench. Former Rovers midfielder Joss Labadie missed out for Notts County but Enoch Showunmi was selected as a substitute.
McGurk sent the first shot of the game high over the bar, hooking a right foot volley away from the target from 20 yards.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce curled over the Tranmere bar after working his way past Holmes on 20 minutes but two minutes later Rovers took the lead. A right wing cross was floated into the area by Abdulai Bell-Baggie and Thompson's back post header went in off the body of Carl Regan.
A McGurk free kick from 25 yards was spilled by Bialkowski on 25 minutes but the home side were able to clear the danger and the keeper was called on again five minutes later, saving well from Cassidy after the striker beat the offside trap to run on to a pass from McGurk.
On 34 minutes a right foot drive from James Wallace was tipped around the post by Bialkowski and from the resulting corner the keeper had to save Thompson's 20 yard shot in front of the top right corner.
McGurk forced another save out of the County keeper on 39 minutes with a low effort from outside the area following good work from Liam Palmer while Ben Gibson and Ash Taylor were combining well at the heart of the defence to deal with any aerial balls sent into the Tranmere box.
The final chance of the half saw County's Campbell-Ryce cut inside from the right wing and curl just past the top left corner from outside the area.
County's Regan and Ash Taylor both picked up early bookings in the second half but while the action on the pitch got a bit more heated there was little in the way of goalmouth activity.

Bell-Baggie's counter attack set up Cassidy to shoot past the left hand post on 67 minutes and the striker saw another close range chance blocked by Jordan Stewart a minute later after McGurk's first effort had been parried by Bialkowski.
On 72 minutes Bell-Baggie raced clear on the counter attack, side stepped a challenge and shot just past the post when he perhaps had more time than he realised.
Rovers kept up the pressure and went closer still to a second goal on 77 minutes when Thompson won possession inside the County half. The ball eventually found Bell-Baggie 25 yards out and the winger drilled a low shot past Bialkowski and against the foot of the left hand post with the ball rebounding to safety.
County captain Neal Bishop headed over the bar from a corner won by Showunmi on 80 minutes and Regan shot wide of the target a minute later as the hosts looked for an equaliser.
