Tranmere suffered an afternoon to forget at the Lamex Stadium, going down 3-1 to Stevenage and moving closer to the bottom four.
Goals from Jimmy Smith, Darius Charles and John Mousinho gave the home side the three points while Rovers only found the scoresheet in the 89th minute thanks to an own goal from Curtis Obeng.
There was one change to the team that drew against Oldham as new loan signing Junior Brown replaced Andy Robinson on the left wing.
After a scrappy start to the match, Rovers had two early chances from set pieces after home defenders picked up bookings, but Stevenage cleared both crosses from Jason Koumas.
The home side took the lead on 21 minutes. A slip from Brown outside the Rovers area gave possession to Stevenage and though John Mousinho missed his shot on the edge of the area, the ball rolled to Jimmy Smith who shot across Owain Fon Williams and into the bottom right corner.
Two minutes later it was almost two, with Fon Williams saving Freeman's long range strike and then turning a Francois Zoko header against the cross bar.
Stevenage kept up their pressure and former Tranmere winger Lucas Akins fired wide from 15 yards after being picked out by Darius Charles on 32 minutes.
James Wallace sent a back post header from a Koumas cross into the arms of Chris Day on 33 minutes and the midfielder saw another effort deflect wide from a corner.
Akins had a great chance to double Stevenage's lead on 49 minutes when a Fon Williams save landed at his feet but he fired wide of an open goal from ten yards.
Brown saw a 15 yard shot blocked on 67 minutes and Wallace headed wide at the back post soon after as Rovers began to push forward.
However, on 72 minutes Stevenage added their second. Zoko broke past Brown and rolled across the six yard box for Charles to tap in.
And two became three a minute later. The hosts took a quick free kick and found John Mousinho in space who curled into the top right corner from a tight angle.
Fon Williams did well to save Akins' well guided header on 79 minutes, while Rovers pulled a goal back on 89 minutes when Obeng sent a pass back straight past his own keeper and into his own net. However, there were no more chances for Rovers who went home empty handed.
