Tranmere were held to a goalless draw by Carlisle United at Prenton Park.
Rovers created the better chances throughout the 90 minutes, with Jake Cassidy hitting the post and a number of other opportunities going close. However, John McMahon's side were unable to convert any of their 15 shots and had to settle for a point.
There were two changes to the team that started against Swindon. Matthew Pennington took the place of Danny Holmes at right back after returning to the Club on loan from Everton while Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, recalled from his loan at Bury, started in place of the injured James Wallace.
Rovers started strongly and forced four corners in the opening five minutes. The first saw a header from Akpa Akpro cleared off the goal line by Chris Chantler while Taylor headed wide at the back post in the fourth minute.
Tranmere went close again on ten minutes. Akpa Akpro won possession inside his own half and curled over the Carlisle defence for Jake Cassidy to run on to. The striker controlled, cut inside on to his right foot and curled past the keeper from 20 yards but his shot struck the bottom of the right hand post, rolled across the goal line and away to safety.
A minute later Ryan Lowe drilled a shot towards the top corner from a tight angle, forcing Jordan Pickford to palm behind at his near post, while Max Power curled inches wide from outside the area on 16 minutes.
After a couple of missed half chances for Carlisle, Rovers created another opportunity on 35 minutes. Akpa Akpro curled a pass over Courtney Meppen-Walter to Cassidy but his shot from the right side of the area went straight into the hands of Pickford.
Gary Madine had a header turned away from goal following a corner eight minutes into the second half and a long range effort from James Berrett was turned around the post by Fon Williams seven minutes later.
Jake Kirby curled over the bar from outside the penalty area on 61 minutes and Cassidy forced a good save out of Pickford six minutes later with a powerful strike from the left side of the area. From the resulting corner Taylor headed over.
Gboly Ariyibi replaced Kirby on 73 minutes and the youngster curled wide with his left foot from the edge of the area four minutes later. Cassidy and Akpa Akpro both put chances past the post while Madine fired over at the opposite end in the first minute of added time.
