A second half header from David Amoo earned Carlisle all three points as Tranmere suffered a 1-0 defeat at Brunton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Rob Edwards made two changes to the side that started against Exeter with George Donnelly and Jake Kirby coming in for Cole Stockton and Marc Laird. Donnelly partnered Eliot Richards in attack as Rovers went with a 4-4-2 formation.
A dangerous cross from former Rovers winger David Amoo forced Danny Holmes to concede a corner on ten minutes from which Mark Beck headed wide the first chance of the game.
Fon Williams saved at the back post from Hayden White on 15 minutes while Patrick Brough smashed a shot against the crossbar from six yards five minutes later from an Amoo cross.
On 29 minutes Donnelly turned a Baggie cross into the path of Richards inside the area and after going past two defenders the striker saw his close range effort turned behind by Hanford.
Donnelly ran on to a pass from Gill and sent a low shot across goal and wide of the far post from an acute angle on 38 minutes, while a Kirby cross went through the six yard box and just out of the reach of Baggie at the back post on the stroke of half time.
Max Power side footed wide from 20 yards five minutes into the second half and the midfielder saw another effort deflect over on 57 minutes.
On 72 minutes the home side took the lead, with Amoo heading in from six yards at a corner.
Donnelly fired over from 15 yards on 77 minutes before being replaced by Stockton, while Jason Koumas and Matthias Fanimo came on soon after in place of Matt Gill and Jake Kirby.
Richards volleyed over from a Stockton knock down on 88 minutes while Kyle Dempsey curled just wide at the other end fromm outside the area.
