Tranmere were beaten 1-0 at home against Dovr Athletic with a controversial first-half goal by Ricky Miller separating the teams.
Gary Brabin made four changes to the side which was knocked out of the FA Cup at Lincoln City in midweek. Iain Turner came in for his home debut in place of the suspended Scott Davies, Ritchie Sutton came in to replace suspended Jay Harris with Lois Maynard moved into midfield, Gary Taylor-Fletcher returned to replace Jonny Margetts while new signing Ben Tomlinson started in place of Marlon Jackson.
The clearest opening of the early stages of the game came to Tranmere on 14 minutes when Liam Ridehalgh's left-wing corner found Steve McNulty but the centre-back's header went narrowly over the crossbar.
At the other end, Jack Parkinson headed a set piece over the crossbar while Ricky Modeste was causing problems down the Dover right-hand-side.
Dover took the lead on 42 minutes when a long ball forward found Ricky Miller who appeared the handle the ball to control before firing his shot past Iain Turner.
Rovers made at change at half time with Andy Mangan replacing Ridehalgh.
Tranmere began the second half brightly and Matt Hill fizzed a cross which flew across the face of goal but evaded a touch before Tomlinson cut inside from the right and hit a low shot which Mitch Walker saved.
On 71 minutes, Mangan picked the ball up and hit a left-footed shot which hit the inside of the far post and bounced back out into play.
A few minutes later, a deep cross by Sutton was headed towards goal by Lois Maynard but Aswad Thomas cleared the ball from in front of his goal.
At the other end, Dover substitute Toby Ajala forced Turner into an excellent save while Maynard hooked a shot onto the roof of the net and Sutton dragged a shot wide for Tranmere in the dying embers of the game but it was not to be as the visitors held on to take all three points.
