Defender Adam Buxton has today signed a new contract with Tranmere Rovers which runs until the end of the 2018-19 season.
The 25-year-old, who can play anywhere across the back line, arrived at Prenton Park at the beginning of February 2017 after spending the first half of the 2016-17 campaign with EFL League Two side Portsmouth.
He quickly established himself as an important figure in the Rovers defence during the back end of the season, making his debut in the FA Trophy replay against Chelmsford City before making a further 13 appearances and helping the side to the play-off final.
A strong defender first and foremost, the former Accrington Stanley man also showed he has quality from set pieces in attacking situations.
Manager Micky Mellon said: "I'm pleased to be able to keep a player of Adam's quality at the Club.
"He was someone we were able to bring in during the season and we knew the great qualities he would bring to the group.
"During his time with us last season, he showed his flexibility at being able to play at full-back,wing-back or indeed in the centre of defence to allow us to play three at the back.
"He fits into the profile of players we want to have at the football club; he's still relatively young, is always looking to improve, is ambitious and wants to take the Club forward.
"Adam has shown he can perform and handle the expectation from everybody of playing for Tranmere and is a good character to have around the place, so we're really pleased he's staying with us."
