Youngster puts pen to paper on new deal

20-year-old Mitchell Duggan has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Prenton Park.

The youngster, who came through the Club’s Academy system, has spent the majority of his two seasons as a professional gaining valuable experience on loan with Marine, Trafford and this season at Warrington Town, playing more than 60 games at senior level.

He also made five appearances for the Tranmere Rovers first team during the 2016-17 season in both defence and midfield. He made his first start for the Club against Gateshead and also appeared in Micky Mellon’s first game as Tranmere manager, a 2-0 win over Wrexham.

Rovers manager Micky Mellon said: "I’m pleased that Mitch is remaining with us.

"We send young players out on loan so they can develop and gain knowledge of how to compete in men’s football so they've got a better idea of what to expect when they get a chance in our first team.

"Mitch has progressed in his time at Warrington Town this season and the experiences he has gained there will stand him in good stead for the future."
