Connections between the two clubs

Tranmere Rovers will face Liverpool FC in a pre-season friendly at Prenton Park on Wednesday 12 July, 7:45pm kick-off.

Over the years a number of players have played for both clubs, one of the most well known one being John Aldridge who scored 64 goals in 106 appearances for The Reds before leaving for Real Sociedad. He returned from Spain to join Rovers and netted 174 times from 304 appearances in a Rovers shirt, as well as taking the manager's job at Prenton Park and leading the Club to its first major cup final in 2000.

Current Head of Academy Lee Jones is another who has played for both clubs, joining Tranmere in 1997 from Anfield and going on to make 89 appearances for Rovers.

Other players to have featured for both clubs include Jason McAteer, Alan Navarro, Ron Yeats, Ian St John, Dave Hickson, David Fairclough and Alan A'Court.
