Tranmere Rovers were denied a place in the Buildbase FA Trophy final with a superb strike by Ollie Norburn separating the sides at Prenton Park.
In a tight and tense affair, it was Norburn's touch of magic which won the tie for Macclesfield and give them a date at Wembley on May 21.
Micky Mellon made three changes to the side which started at Torquay United in midweek. In to the side came Adam Mekki, Andy Cook and James Norwood.
Rovers made a bright start and Jay Harris and Adam Mekki had shots blocked in the opening stages.
At the other end, Rhys Browne was causing problems for Macclesfield and hit a shot wide from 20 yards on 16 minutes.
James Norwood had a couple of efforts saved by Scott Flinders before the interval as the scores were still locked together.
Norwood set up a chance for Adam Mekki shortly after the restart with a low cross which resulted in the latter's shot being deflected and the sting taken out of it.
Macclesfield went close on the hour mark when Ollie Norburn hit a strike against the crossbar.
But he found the target seven minutes later when he picked the ball up on the left edge of the area and fired an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner of the net.
Soon after, Mekki fired a shot just wide while George Pilkington hit the outside of the post at the other end.
Andy Mangan replaced Mekki for the final 11 minutes, but despite the best efforts, it wasn't to be and Macclesfield will face York City at Wembley Stadium.
