Tranmere Rovers Under-18 were beaten 2-0 away against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance North West Conference.

A quick start by the home team saw them take an early lead when John McAtee turned and slotted home after four minutes.

They replicated the fast start at the beginning of the second period when McAtee turned provider to play the ball to Aaron Gilpin who slid the ball past Patrick Wharton to make it 2-0.

It remained that way until full time despite the Young Rovers trying their best to get a foothold back into the game.

Tranmere Rovers: Wharton, Solomon-Davies (Long 46), Fleming, Lucy, J. Devine, Kubwalo, Heron, E. Devine, Akpan (Bailey 46), Croughan (Brett 46), Cringle
Subs: Medlen, Passant, Brett, Bailey, Long.
