Rovers in friendly draw

Tranmere's third pre-season friendly of the summer finished in a 1-1 draw at Vauxhall Motors on Friday night.

After a fairly even start to the game Rovers began to get some luck down the left and first went close to scoring when Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's close range effort was saved following good work from Zoumana Bakayogo.

On 31 minutes Ronnie Moore's side took the lead when Akpa Akpro's cross found Cole Stockton and the young striker turned inside the area and fired low into the bottom right corner.

Stockton almost doubled the advantage two minutes later when his dipping effort had to be tipped over the bar but four minutes before half time the hosts equalised through Tom Rutter.

For the first time in pre-season Rovers started the second half with the same team that ended the first but 15 minutes into the half ten changes were made with only Owain Fon Williams remaining for the full 90. There was a first appearance for Paul Black while trialist Jonathan Tehoue also came on.

Andy Robinson fired over the bar from the edge of the area while Jake Kirby forced a good save out of the keeper and Francis Jeffers headed over with the last real chance of the match.

Tranmere: Fon Williams, Kay (Holmes 60), Kamara (Taylor 60), McChrystal (Gharzoul 60), Vaulks (Black 60), Akins (Bell-Baggie 60), Harrison (Kirby 60), Power (Palmer 60), Bakayogo (Robinson 60), Stockton (Jeffers 60), Akpa Akpro (Tehoue 60). Unused substitutes: Mooney, Beech, Conchie.
