A Summer of success at ISA!

3 October 2019

It has been a summer of success for Tranmere Rovers’ International Soccer Academy, delivering to multiple teams as part of their development programme based at the Club’s Campus Training Ground.

The ISA took full advantage of Rovers’ pre-season conditioning programmes to train various individual players and teams, who visited the Wirral.

Ten team programmes and five individual programmes were run across the summer months, with a total of 171 individuals taking part in elite training sessions and games.

Academy goalkeeper coach Paul Davies said: “I have been impressed with the attitude of our American players. Their fitness is at a good base level and it allows me to fine tune their technical goalkeeping elements that they might not otherwise have had at their own clubs.”

The delivery of the ISA programmes kicked-off on July, with the arrival of Greenville University Women’s team, and the ISA have continued to deliver their programmes throughout the year.

Dan O’Donnell, International Technical Director at Tranmere Rovers said: “The ISA enjoyed a busy summer of delivery at our elite training facility this year. First up we ran individual programmes for American College players hoping to move their game on to the next level.

“Players that came for individual programmes benefited from personalised session plans and time spent with our specialist staff on a one to one basis. We are hoping that the cultural exposure they had during their time here will shape their careers for the long term. I must say that both had a terrific attitude and work ethic and were a joy to work with.

“Over the second part of the summer we received a number of groups hoping to take advantage of our state-of-the-art grass pitches and soccer specific gym. The coaches of the groups were great to work with in terms of sharing ideas based on their coaching experiences.

“Working with the whole group has duel benefits in that the players get an experience that they will never forget and added to that, the coaches get a chance to discuss their set-up with professional coaches and run ideas past them whilst working alongside them.”
