Lorraine Rogers is to become Non Executive Chairman at Tranmere Rovers.

In the new role, Lorraine, who joined the board in 1998, will relinquish her day to day executive responsibilities, though she will remain a committed member of the board.

She says in the match programme tomorrow: "When I joined the Board in 1998, we had inherited very serious financial problems from the previous regime. I felt as though I had been left holding the baby and had no option but to roll my sleeves up and get involved in the day to day running of the Club.

"Now we have a greater degree of stability. Since 2002 we've had a Chief Executive, Mick Horton, who has been in football administration for 22 years plus our Finance Director, Richard Hughes, has been in football finance for 13 years. They're a very experienced team.

"Last month we announced that we're looking to make four new appointments in commercial/administration areas so we will have the extra resources we believe we need to be on a level playing field off the pitch with other clubs of a similar size.

"We've moved on since the doom and gloom of those severe financial problems in 1998/9 and Peter Johnson and I both feel the time is right for me to handover the day to day executive responsibilities to Mick and his colleagues and become a Non Executive Chairman.

"I'll continue to represent League One clubs on the board of The Football League and do everything I can to support and champion the Club in this new role.

"As Club President and major shareholder, Peter is involved in key developments at the Club. Peter, the Board and our associate directors - Tony Adams and Norman Wilson - work together as a team.

"It is exactly as it should be on and off the pitch - focussed, ambitious and united."
