It's not just football from Tranmere Rovers In The Community.
The community team have been hard at work all summer out and about in Wirral organising a number of activities across a broad range of events for local people.
The events involving TRIC and a variety of patners include:
* A fun day at Arrowe Park called SPAR (Saving Parks and Recreation), aimed at stopping anti-social behaviour which also involved the Police and Fire Services.
* Birkenhead Park Festival of Sport. Over the summer more than 20 clubs, schools and associations have come together to form the Birkenhead Park Sport Association. This has led to six weeks of events for children during the summer holidays. Tranmere Rovers In The Community have carried out coaching sessions on Friday mornings free of charge to any children attending.
* TEAM READ reading scheme at Leasowe Library (pictured). The community team assisted in the project which was designed to increase team skills among local children.
* Disability coaching sessions every Friday afternoon at Bidston Tennis Centre.
* Two events arranged in conjunction with the Police at Bidston Observatory School for children with learning difficulties.
* Soccer schools and tots courses for boys and girls
Perhaps the biggest scheme of the summer for Tranmere Rovers In The Community has been the Step Into Leisure programme, run in conjunction with Wirral Council and Cultural Inclusion Officer Jeanette Geary, and funded by Greater Merseyside Connections.
This successful programme has seen local children involved in a variety of activites with Tranmere Rovers In The Community all summer, including: Multi-sports (cricket, tennis and rounders), football, a 5-week project titled Get Into Reading which has also involved the Tranmere Rovers Learning Centre and a film workshop, a trip to Oaklands Activity Centre, an adventure day at Manley Mere and Fire safety and Drive to Arrive at Birkenhead and Wallasey Fire Stations.
