Orrets Meadow Win Sam Bencheikh Memorial Festival

Posted on: Tue 18 Nov 2008

Orrets Meadow School were the proud winners of the Sam Bencheikh Memorial Festival this week, defeating Gilbrook in the final which was staged at Prenton Park.

The three school, six team tournament was played in the Club's Learning Centre on Wednesday, with Hayfield just missing out on a place in the final.

Organised and refereed by Tranmere Rovers In The Community, the tournament was a great success, with Community Officer Steve Williams commenting: "All three teams played some great football and should be very proud of themselves. It was a closely fought competition, with Orrets Meadow just beating Gilbrook on penalties.

"Having visited the three schools earlier this school year for coaching sessions, it's good to see the children putting their new skills into practice."
