Tranmere Rovers In The Community is set to receive a donation of £5,000.
The £5,000 is part of an annual distribution of money raised by the Community Shield match and the FA invites all clubs competing in The FA Cup (First Round proper onwards) to nominate a charity.
Tranmere Rovers In The Community works to empower and engage the local community through football with various projects, including the very successful schools coaching programme, working with people with special needs and disabilities and socially excluded children. Any funding goes into these projects in the community to enhance participation and involvement of all groups within the community.
After being formed in 1988 as Tranmere Rovers' Football in the Community department, it was established as a charity in February 2007.
Tranmere Rovers Chairman Lorraine Rogers said: "We are delighted with the work Tranmere Rovers In The Community does and hope this donation will enable them to continue promoting a healthy lifestyle to children in Wirral and encouraging them to participate in sport."
Tranmere Rovers In The Community Officer Steve Williams added: "As a charity all donations are very gratefully received and go a long way to helping us improve the work we do throughout Wirral."
