St Saviours RC Primary School are the new Tranmere Rovers in the Community Under-11s Champions after winning the annual 7-a-side competition.

The Ellesmere Port school defeated Woodlands Primary (also Ellesmere Port) 1-0 in the final of the competition that featured 40 local schools.

The top three Wirral schools - Our Ladies and St Edwards, Higher Bebington and Sandbrook - will go on to represent the borough in the Merseyside Youth Games later this summer.

The competition was run in conjunction with Wirral Council and took place at Weatherhead High School.
