Tranmere Rovers have been awarded the Football League Family Excellence Award for 2010 - the third year in a row the Club has won the award.
Tranmere are just one of five clubs from the North West to receive the 2010 award, and one of only 17 from the Football League (and one of nine from League One) to win the award in all three years since its launch in 2007.
The award is based on an independent assessment of the family experience at all 72 League clubs, commissioned by The Football League, during the 2009-10 season using 'mystery shopper' families.
The judges were particularly impressed with the efforts clubs are making to ensure away travel is more attractive for families, ensuring they can enjoy the match together in a dedicated, safe, welcoming and entertaining environment.
Tranmere Rovers has a long term commitment to be the best value for money family club in the region, part of which is our standard admission price for anyone aged 16 and under being only £5. The Club also introduced family season tickets and reduced prices season tickets for under-7s for the 2009-10 season and has run offers for seniors and young persons throughout the year and provides free face painting in the Club Shop at every home game.
Chief Executive Mick Horton said: "We are delighted to win the Family Excellence Award for the third year in a row.
"We recognise that we are competing against a wide range of attractions to bring families to matches so want to make our home games as enjoyable, friendly and welcoming as possible. The award recognises the excellent value for money we provide and the hard work we have put in during the season."
In announcing the successful clubs, Football League Chairman, Lord Mawhinney, said: "The 'Football League Family Excellence Award' provides a benchmark for clubs to work towards and ensures that they are doing all they can to attract and retain family groups as supporters. League clubs are working hard to make the family experience the best it can be."
