Rovers Return to Work
An exciting new project got underway at the Learning Centre during the Easter break. The "Rovers Return to Work" initiative has been set up through the Club's commercial department and Job Centre Plus in partnership with Playing for Success and Wirral Metropolitan College. Its aim is to encourage 18 to 24 year olds back to work through participation in a brand new 10 week programme.
16 young people have been recruited onto the course and will be developing a range of skills between now and the end of June. Workshops will cover areas such as leadership and communication skills, CV writing, personal motivation, image and interview skills. The participants will also take part in coaching, fitness and exercise sessions, healthy eating workshops and training in the use of video and photographic equipment. They will also undergo accredited training in First Aid at Work and Health and Safety at Work. Each individual will spend two weeks on work placement as part of the project and will hopefully be in a stronger position to find employment for themselves by the end of the programme.
The first, hopefully of many, "Rovers Return to Work" groups are guests of the Club at tonight's game against Wycombe Wanderers and we wish them all the very best for the rest of the programme. Enjoy the game!
Player Visit
Special thanks to the players who kindly dropped in to visit the young people from Wirral schools involved in our "World Cup Workshop" during the Easter holiday. Ian Goodison, Zoumana Bakayogo, Kithson Bain, Ryan Fraughan, Charlie Barnett and Joe Collister all took time out to meet the children and seemed to enjoy joining in with our table football competition.
