Ronnie Moore felt his side deserved the three points that moved them back into the top six following the 2-0 win over Port Vale.

He told the press: "It was a horrible night and windy as hell. But I didn't think we were ever in any danger, it was just a matter of upping the tempo which we did in the second half. I thought we had them on the rack and then we got the ball. I think overall we deserved to win the game.

"What they knew they would do in the first half was press, but you can't do it for 90 minutes. They ran their legs out in 45 minutes then we were nice and professional and picked them off.

"We changed it with Shukes. We're trying to give him an hour or so but today we felt he was a bit tight. We brought Jennison on and he did what we wanted him to do.

"There's only Davo out, the rest of them are fit. I've had to leave Adnan, John Mullin and Mike Jones out today. They'll probably be wondering what's going on. I felt Antony Kay was due a little rest which was why I put Ben in. He'll have been disappointed not to have played as well. We've got a strong squad now and players to bring on who can change games. The change today made a difference.

"What we're trying to do is give Zola and Curran longer, but it's tough when the games are so tight. Chris and Ian are getting a nice little understanding now. They've got a bit of pace and a bit of experience. They sometimes make the same run and that's something we need to work on."
