Ronnie Moore feels his players will have benefitted in more than just fitness from the friendly against Liverpool.

The Rovers Manager said: "We wanted a work out and it was good. It was great for our lads, you can't buy that experience. The goal was the disappointing thing for us, we'd done so well right up to half time. But we gave the ball away and within ten seconds they'd scored. It was a hell of a finish.

"I don't think it will have done our lads any harm to have played against them and seen their movement, it was fantastic. We'll never come up against anything like that in League One.

"John [Curtis] has good experience. He did well, was comfortable on the ball. There's plenty to work with there.

"I thought George [O'Callaghan] looked off the pace a little, it's different playing at Cork to playing here against Liverpool. But he'll get fitter and he's going to be a good player for us.

"Sonko is quick and direct. I just want him to be more direct in the final third.

"It's early days on the system and it will get a lot better. It was never going to be easy against Liverpool. I was pleased with the work out, it was what we needed."
