Ronnie: "We Controlled It"
Ronnie Moore declared himself satisfied with his side's performance as they ran out 2-1 winners at League Two side Morecambe in a pre-season friendly.
First half goals from Craig Curran and Terry Gornell gave Rovers the victory in hot conditions at Christie Park, though Paul Henry was sent off late on.
The Manager told www.tranmererovers.co.uk: "I think we controlled it. I thought we were very good in the first half. The movement was good. It was a hot day and there were plenty of positives from it. I'm just disappointed we haven't scored more goals.
"They changed the system in the second half to match us up with the 4-3-3 and it made it a little bit more difficult to get players on the ball. We'll come up against that in the league and there's one or two little things we need to work on.
"There's plenty of options for us to do whatever we want. With the wingers, we've got seven players playing for the places up front.
"I'm just disappointed in the sending off. Paul miscontrolled it and I don't think he tried to hurt anybody. He caught the lad and the referee deemed it to be an automatic red card which is disappoointing when you're ten seconds into injury time."
Meanwhile, Moore revealed that goalkeeper Danny Coyne was withdrawn from the team as a precaution. The Welsh international was on the teamsheet to start the match but was replaced moments before the start of play by John Achterberg.
"Danny has felt his calf tighten up just before kick off so we decided not to chance it. John showed what he is capable of with a couple of good saves."
