Ronnie Moore was happy with his side's performance as they defeated Morecambe 1-0 at Prenton Park in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The Manager told Tranmere World: "I thought we played well. I was about to complain at half time that we hadn't got a goal but we got one. It was a great ball in and Shotts did what he's good at.
"I thought we took our foot off the pedal in the second half and made it a bit nervy for the spectators and me. But there was some good movement and some good performances.
"We need to score more. We had opportunities and their keeper made some wonderful saves. Gareth Edds is going to score sooner or later and when he does he'll probably end up with a hat-trick.
"It was the win that mattered. We needed to win and we kept a clean sheet and are now in a cup semi-final.
"That's five clean sheets in six games so we're moving in the right direction."
Meanwhile, the Manager said he hopes to have striker Bas Savage back in the squad on Saturday after he missed the match through illness.
He added: "Bas has a chest infection so there was no way he could be included in this one. We like to think he'll be ok for Saturday but Ian Goodison will miss out."
