Barnes: "I've Been Pleased With Ian's Attitude"
John Barnes says Ian Moore's experience and attitude were every bit as crucial as his football talent as the striker signed a new contract at Tranmere.
Moore put pen to paper on a two year deal at Prenton Park on Thursday - a day after the players returned to pre-season training.
The Manager told Tranmere World: "It's very important [that Ian signed a new contract] - not just in terms of the quality he brings, but he has a good attitude and he is an experienced player.
"I want to see him play up front, I don't think I'll be moving him around too much. But I know that he has played out wide before which shows me he is a team player. I've only been here for two days, but I've been pleased with his attitude, it has been spot on."
Meanwhile, the Manager was pleased to see his squad had kept themselves in shape over the close season.
He added: "They're fit. From the first day, players were as light as when they left, so the first few days are just about topping up the fitness. In three or four days we'll start properly on the football. The character the players have shown in the first couple of days has been very good. That's half the battle as far as I'm concerned."
