Les: "We Need Three Points"

Posted on: Thu 03 Dec 2009

Les Parry is looking for maximum points from Saturday's home game against Brentford.

Rovers go into the game on the back of a 3-3 draw at Huddersfield Town, and the Caretaker Manager is aiming for the fourth win of his time in charge.

He told Tranmere Player: "Brentford are mid-table at the moment so they'll be looking to cement their position. If we're lucky enough to win we'll pull the gap back. The game is much more important than Tuesday night. We need three points from Saturday, then we'll look at Tuesday, then we'll look at Southampton.

"Nobody expected us to get anything on Tuesday and the point was fantastic. The other thing we get from it is the confidence boost."

Parry praised defender Ian Goodison who has played through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

He continued: "Chris Shuker's ankle has settled down well and he'll be touch and go for the weekend. Ian Thomas-Moore is a major doubt. When they scored their third goal he went to clear it and missed and hit their lad's studs with his foot. Sometimes you can pad those so we'll have a look at it in training. Shay Logan's adductor is still a little tight.

"I've seen things and heard things said about Ian Goodison and that his performances haven't been great, but there's only Ian Goodison at the Club who would be playing with his level of discomfort at the moment. We need him and he is digging deep for us, and for me he has been magnificent."

Meanwhile, Parry revealed that Brazilian midfielder Leonardo is on trial with the Club.

He added: "He starts today. He's a 19-year old central midfielder and I don't care if he's rubbish or not, he's going to get a contract because having someone playing for us with Leonardo on his back would be brilliant!

"He's played for Brazil at under-15, 16 and 17 level with Rafael and Fabio from Manchester United so he's obviously going to be half decent.

"He'll train with us for a few days so we can have a look at him."
