Les: "The Defending Was Magnificent"

Posted on: Fri 11 Dec 2009

Les Parry praised his defenders after Rovers clinched a 2-1 win at Aldershot and an FA Cup Third Round home tie against Wolves.

The Caretaker Manager said: "The whole of the back four did very well because Aldershot are a good side and really tested us.

"I thought our win was well deserved but you've also got to give Aldershot credit. They had two players, Marvin Morgan and Scott Donnelly who gave us a lot of problems, particularly early on. But once we came to terms with that, the defending was magnificent.

"We were probably fortunate to go in a goal up on the balance of the first half play but once we got the second goal it was always going to be an uphill battle for Aldershot.

"We handled the pressure pretty well and I was just disappointed we lost the clean sheet right at the death.

"I'm looking forward to seeing our two goals on DVD because I didn't get a clear look at them. Ian Thomas-Moore's goal must have been quite a strike.

"Our fans were brilliant. For so many of them to get here on a wet night was very heartening."
