Les Parry paid tribute to both sets of players for their work ethic in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Charlton at the Valley.

The Manager told Tranmere Player: "The lads were a bit disappointed after the game as they felt they had enough chances to win. But once they realised what a good achievement it was they were made up and on the bus on the way home there was a little bit of banter which was nice to see.

"Everyone who was there saw that our lads ran themselves into the ground and the Charlton players did the same. To see their manager take off their two wide men to give them fresh legs shows how hard they had worked. Every one of the 22 players and substitutes on the pitch worked their socks off.

"We always set ourselves up not to give chances to the opposition and one of the problems with that is it limits our chances because we're using our resources on stopping them playing. [Playing 4-4-2] was a massive risk. We all know that Luke hasn't kept us in a game for two or three months and that's because of the way we have defended. On Saturday he was our man of the match."

Meanwhile, Parry said Zoumana Bakayogo's sending off at Charlton would give Aaron Cresswell a chance to win his place back in the side.

He added: "Zoom was unfortunate. He slid in and just missed the ball. It was a foul but whether it was a booking in the last minute is highly debatable. We've got Aaron Cresswell so we're not bringing a round peg into a square hole. Aaron is a good player who started the season off really well. He had a bit of a dip at the time Zoom became available and Zoom took his chance. Now it's up to Aaron to take his chance."
