Gaffer To Assess Strikers In Reserves

Posted on: Mon 16 Aug 2010

Les Parry will use Tuesday night's reserve game against Macclesfield Town as a chance to assess his options in a number of departments.

Rovers open their totesport.com League campaign with a home game against the Silkmen at Cammell Laird with a strong side expected to be on display.

The Manager told Tranmere Player: "We're going to do some work with those players [who haven't had a full pre-season] this week because we've got a free week. Enoch will tell you himself that he's not quite there yet so, together with Adam McGurk and [trialist] Lucas Akins we'll do some work with him.

"Lucas will play for the reserves tomorrow night, Zoom will play, Max will play, Tim will play and Fraughny will play. Adam McGurk and Kayleden will play too. So we'll have a strong side out."

Parry says Rovers are still aiming to add to the squad with midfield now the priority.

He continued: "Today Tim Cathalina has started to train again and Marlon Broomes isn't too far away, so defensively we're looking stronger. In midfield we've only got Ryan Fraughan sitting on the bench so we need a midfielder and that's our focus at the moment. We've still got a bit in the kitty, I've been careful with what we've paid people. We've always allowed for loans as well and we've only taken Liam Darville out of that kitty so there's still money there as well."

Finally, the Manager revealed he hopes to speak to Ian Thomas-Moore's agent about extending his contract later this week.

He added: "We've sent Ian a letter saying we've refused [his transfer request] and we're hoping to sit down with his representative this week and get a second year sorted. We've offered him a second year which is what he has been asking for."
