Les: "It's Important We Win At Home"

Posted on: Thu 19 Aug 2010

Les Parry says he hopes his side will take the momentum of the last two games into Saturday's home match against Bournemouth.

Rovers go into the fixture against the Cherries on the back of a Carling Cup win at Walsall and an away draw against Huddersfield Town.

The Manager told Tranmere Player: "Everything is slotting into place nicely. I've finally settled my staff down, so I can put that to the back of my mind, and we're coming to the end of filling the gaps that we've got in the squad as well.

"We all take time to settle down. Our performance in the first game was unacceptable but the lads put that behind them and in the last two games they've been looking like they've been playing together for some time.

"It's important we win and important we get a run going at home. It's nice to get seven or eight wins out of ten at home because that's the foundation for kicking on. Home wins are a 'need to get' and away wins are a 'nice to get'. We're playing on Saturday against one of the teams that are playing particularly well but that won't faze us."

The Manager said he had yet to decide who would play in goal on Saturday with Gunnar Nielsen's fitness unclear.

He added: "Gunnar is heads and tails for the weekend, so we're a bit unsure about whether he's available. But Joe has played 180 minutes and made one mistake which is not bad going. If he doesn't play on Saturday he will be very unfortunate. At Huddersfield, apart from Ian Goodison four of the back five had to be in at 9 o'clock to get their homework done, they're that young. If someone comes in and does a good job, they'll keep their place. Enthusiasm makes up for lack of experience. You've only got to see our young players around the place, they're a joy to work with. We took them for some set plays and shape before the reserve game and they were great."

Meanwhile, Les revealed that Adam McGurk and trialist Lucas Akins would be offered one year deals with the Club, and that he had spoken to Leeds United about extending the loan of Liam Darville until the end of the year.

Bet on the game with the Club's online betting partner, Coral.
