Tranmere left it late but came from behind to earn a point at the Liberty Stadium.

Rovers had absorbed the Swansea pressure for most of the first half but conceded two minutes before half time.

They showed more attacking flair in the second half and forced a number of saves out of the home keeper, with Chris Greenacre eventually finding the breakthrough in injury time to send the 90 travelling supporters home happy. The result left Rovers just two points outside the Play Off places in ninth.

Ronnie Moore opted for a 4-5-1 formation, with Adnan Ahmed joining John Mullin and Paul McLaren in the centre of midfield, while Antony Kay returned to the defence. Ian Goodison missed out due to a knee injury while Calvin Zola dropped to the bench. In Goodison's absence, McLaren was named captain for the evening.

The starting formation against Swansea

Kay blocked an early shot from Swansea striker Jason Scotland while Rovers coped with an attack down the right involving Leon Britton and Thomas Butler on four minutes.

The home side enjoyed most of the early possession with Danny Coyne saving well from Scotland on 13 minutes after the ball deflected to the Trinidad & Tobago striker off Andy Taylor.

With the Swans continuing to press forward Coyne had to be on his toes to keep out another effort from Scotland two minutes later.

Rovers' first concerted attack brought a free kick just outside the area, with Dennis Lawrence fouling Mullin as he made his way towards goal. The set piece was taken by McLaren with the central midfielder forcing Dorus de Vries to turn behind for a corner with a curling shot.

Kay dealt well with a low cross from Andy Robinson on 25 minutes while Robinson missed with a 20 yard shot on 32 minutes. At the other end Jennison Myrie-Williams tested de Vries from outside the area.

Ferrie Bodde saw a shot deflected wide on 43 minutes but the home side took the lead from the corner. Rovers cleared Robinson's cross but the ball fell to Alan Tate on the edge of the area and the centre back lashed home a volley.

Shane Sherriff shot wide four minutes into the second half as Rovers looked for an equaliser and put another speculative effort past the post soon after.

It seemed all of the chances were falling to the Australian and on 59 minutes he sent a right foot shot wide of de Vries' goal.

Taylor went on a long solo run on 63 minutes before forcing de Vries into a save and Ian Moore tested the keeper two minutes later from the edge of the area.

The Swans almost grabbed a second on 69 minutes when Robinson struck the side netting from a 20-yard free kick conceded by Ahmed.

Myrie-Williams was replaced by Chris Greenacre with 20 minutes remaining, while Taylor's cross somehow went through the six yard box on 76 minutes with none of his team mates able to get a touch on the ball.

Coyne saved from Swansea substitute Guillem Bauza on 79 minutes and Bodde shot over the bar four minutes later.

Greenacre tried his luck on 87 minutes with a long range effort but the ball went well over de Vries' goal, while fellow substitute Zola shot wide with a minute left.

Moments after the fourth official had shown there would be three minutes of injury time, Rovers grabbed a deserved equaliser. McLaren whipped in a great ball to the near post with Greenacre converting.
