Tranmere's trip to the Walkers Stadium ended in disappointment as two goals from set pieces and a late header gave Leicester all three points.
Rovers had looked comfortable in the first half hour but went a goal down through Steve Howard's close range strike. Matty Fryatt doubled Leicester's lead early in the second half, but a volley from Chris Shuker kept the game alive in the closing stages until Fryatt added his second deep in injury time.
Ronnie Moore made two changes to the side that beat Hartlepool, with Ian Moore - who was suffering with a virus - replaced in attack by Bas Savage and Gareth Edds coming in at right back in place of the injured Godwin Antwi. It was Edds' first start since joining the Club in the summer, while young defender Danny Holmes was named as a substitute.

The opening few minutes saw play quickly swing from end to end, with Rovers having the first half chance, but Antony Kay's cross went over the head of Steve Jennings and Edrissa Sonko was beaten to the ball by a defender.
Max Gradel fired over for the home side on eight minutes but Rovers were soon back in the Leicester half, forcing a couple of corners in quick succession following some good passing on both wings.
Ben Chorley headed over from an Andy Taylor free kick on 15 minutes while the home fans began to become frustrated as their side were beaten to a number of loose balls by Jennings and Kay. However, Leicester responded with their first real attack, winning two corners and having two shots blocked on the way to goal.
Steve Howard's shot on the turn was deflected over on 21 minutes for Leicester while Craig Curran headed just over the bar three minutes later after meeting Sonko's well placed cross in the middle of the six yard box.
Danny Coyne easily caught Matty Fryatt's free kick on 27 minutes but the next set piece from the hosts six minutes later brought the game's first goal. Matt Oakley ran around the back of the wall to pick up a pass from Lloyd Dyer and his cross was turned in from close range by Howard.
Dyer struck the side netting from 20 yards on 38 minutes and a Taylor free kick was blocked by the Leicester wall soon after, though there were appeals for handball.
A Fryatt shot flew across goal on 44 minutes after being blocked by Coyne, the last chance of the half.
Another set piece outside the area gave Leicester their second goal on 53 minutes, this time Fryatt heading in from close range after running through the Rovers defence to get on the end of Max Gradel's free kick.
A double change on 61 minutes saw Chris Greenacre and Chris Shuker come on for George O'Callaghan and Sonko as Rovers moved to 4-4-2, with Shuker and Curran in the wing roles.
Shuker tested home keeper David Martin on 67 minutes with a low free kick from 25 yards and Kay shot two yards wide from a similar distance two minutes later.
Rovers had a good chance to grab a goal back on 77 minutes when Martin left his line to claim a cross but missed and Savage's header across goal was first missed by Kay and then Shuker fired over.
Kay forced Martin into a save on 78 minutes with a strike from 12 yards and a minute later Rovers finally made the breakthrough, with Greenacre racing down the right, his cross deflecting over Martin into the path of Shuker who volleyed in from six yards.
With around ten minutes left to rescue a point, Tranmere threw men forward but couldn't find a way to goal. With the game deep in injury time Leicester added their third with Fryatt heading in from close range following a goalmouth scramble.
