Antony Kay rescued a point for Rovers and kept their Play Off hopes alive with a stunning late volley against Yeovil.
The captain fired in late in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw against the Glovers, a result that meant a win on the final day of the season will be enough for sixth place.
It also extended Rovers' unbeaten home league run to 18 games, matching the achievement of the 1988-89 promotion team.
Ronnie Moore made just one change to the side that lost at Leeds, with Craig Curran replacing the injured Bas Savage in attack. Youngster Ash Taylor was recalled from his loan spell at Colwyn Bay to be named among the substitutes.

Yeovil striker Jon Obika tested Danny Coyne inside the first 90 seconds and Paul Warne volleyed wide from 20 yards as Rovers took a while to settle into the contest.
A block was needed from Andy Taylor to keep out a shot from Andros Townsend on ten minutes after Warne had wrong footed Ryan Shotton, but Rovers came to life six minutes later.
Edrissa Sonko and Curran wrestled the ball from Nathan Smith before the latter's through ball was flicked into the path of Ian Moore six yards out. The striker connected well enough with his shot but Yeovil keeper Chris Weale was well positioned to save with his legs.
The chance drew a loud response from the home crowd, with chants of 'Superwhite Army' breaking out throughout the ground.
Coyne palmed over a Townsend shot which was destined for the top right corner on 21 minutes while Warne was booked for diving inside the area under a challenge from Ben Chorley.
A slip from Shotton almost let Obika in on 32 minutes but Chorley and Taylor were able to clear from inside their six yard box.
At the opposite end Shotton looped a header on to the roof of the net from a Taylor free kick, as some poor passing meant chances were proving hard to come by for Rovers.
Townsend send a low shot just past the far post from the edge of the area on 42 minutes - the last effort of the half for either side.
Coyne held on to a low cross from Obika on 55 minutes and saved with his feet from Gavin Tomlin's shot on the turn two minutes later as Rovers again looked nervous.
Danny Schofield raced forward on 60 minutes and smashed a shot against the Rovers bar, with Coyne's fingertips perhaps keeping his side level.
Rovers' first change saw Terry Gornell replace Sonko, with Moore moving to the right side of midfield.
Tranmere Captain Antony Kay felt he was held back as he attempted to lob Chris Weale as the keeper raced out of goal on 65 minutes, but his appeals were ignored by the match officials.
Two minutes later the visitors took the lead. Obika received the ball from Tomlin, turned Chorley and shot through Coyne's legs from a tight angle with the ball bouncing off the far post and into the net.
Kay fired a free kick into the arms of Weale on 70 minutes after Curran was fouled by Aaron Brown just outside the area, and Chorley headed over from a Taylor free kick moments later.
Obika fired just wide on 74 minutes, while Robbie Burns replaced Barnett soon after.
The next attack brought Rovers' equaliser. A long throw from Shotton went through the area and reached Kay who expertly volleyed into the top right corner with his left foot for his twelfth goal of the season.
Jennings tackled the same player as he raced through the Tranmere defence in the first minute of injury time, effectively securing the draw for Rovers.
