Antony Kay admits he's desperate to get into action for Rovers after a couple of weeks of pre-season training.
The defender, who signed on a two-year contract from Barnsley, said: "I'm glad to come here and can't wait to get the season started and play for Tranmere Rovers.
"Tranmere is a big club in League One. Every time I've played against them they had good players and a good team and the Club has a really good chance of getting promoted.
"Hopefully I will bring experience. I have been promoted from the league before and I know what needs to be done.
"I know Chris Shuker very well. I played with Shukes at Barnsley and I have played against the strikers here. I know there are some good players here and I'm looking forward to playing with them."
