Tranmere have been drawn away to Grimsby Town in the First Round of the 2008-09 Carling Cup.

The match will be played during the week commencing August 11.

The two clubs have met once before in the League Cup. In 1993 Rovers defeated the Mariners 4-1 at Prenton Park, with John Aldridge (2), Kenny Irons and Steve Vickers on target in a Third Round tie.
