Tranmere Rovers have signed Luke Waterfall on a one-year contract.

The 17-year old centre back joins Rovers from Barnsley where he progressed through their youth academy. He was regularly involved in the Tykes' reserve side last season.

He has featured in Tranmere's pre-season games against Wrexham and Heswall this summer and has been training with the first team squad since the beginning of July.

Manager Ronnie Moore said: "Luke is a very talented young defender. He's big and strong, comfortable on the ball and knows how to tackle.

"He has a promising future ahead of him and I'm delighted to be able to bring him to Tranmere."

Luke will be available for Tranmere's home pre-season friendlies against Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday, 29 July and Blackpool on Saturday, 2 August.
