Marine 0 Tranmere 4
Goals from summer signings Gareth Edds and Bas Savage and strikes from Craig Curran and Terry Gornell earned Tranmere a 4-0 win at Marine in their latest pre-season friendly.
Edds, who also scored a hat-trick against Heswall three days earlier, netted midway through the first half with Savage grabbing the second on 70 minutes. Curran added the third from the penalty spot with Gornell completing the scoring in the final minute.
Ronnie Moore again opted for a 4-3-3 formation with new signing Luke Waterfall lining up alongside Ben Chorley in the centre of defence in front of Danny Coyne.
The central midfield trio of George O'Callaghan, Steve Jennings and Edds lined up behind strikers Savage, Chris Greenacre and Ian Moore, with Andy Taylor and Danny Homes at full back.
Holmes sent a left foot shot over the bar on 17 minutes while Moore had an effort well saved two minutes later after being played through by Jennings.
Peter Cumiskey hit the bar for the home team on 24 minutes with a right foot lob but the visitors took the lead three minutes later.
Moore won a corner on the right hand side and after O'Callaghan played it short, Jennings sent a low cross into the area allowing Edds to side foot in from six yards.
Edds almost made it two four minutes later, and Bas Savage had a chance to double the lead soon after as Rovers made a couple of quick counter attacks.
A good turn inside the area gave Edds another shooting opportunity on 40 minutes and the midfielder forced a decent save out of Sean Lake with his right foot.
Paul Henry and triallist Charlie Barnett replaced Jennings and O'Callaghan for the start of the second half, while Moore tested Lake on 50 minutes with a low shot.
Curran, John Achterberg, Adnan Ahmed and Terry Gornell were introduced to the action with half an hour remaining.
On 70 minutes Rovers made it two. Bas Savage picked the ball up just inside the area, turned his marker and fired a low shot across the keeper and into the far corner of the net from 16 yards.
Curran fired just over on 72 minutes but scored the third on 79 minutes from the penalty spot after he was earlier fouled by Ricky Newell.
Gornell almost made it four on 86 minutes with a shot on the turn from Curran's flick on and the pair combined for the fourth goal in the last minute, Curran sliding the ball across the area after good work from Savage and Gornell firing high into the net from 15 yards.
