Tranmere defender Ian Goodison has been named North West League One Footballer of the Year for the second year in a row.

Goodison's victory in the public vote - beating rivals from across the region - was announced at the North West Football Awards in Manchester last night.

The Jamaican international, who was also named Rovers' Player of the Season in May, was unfortunately unable to receive his award due to being away on international duty.

Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore commented: "It's a great honour for Ian to receive this award, especially as it is voted for by the fans.

"Ian has been superb for us over the last few seasons and he deserves his award."
