Tranmere goalkeeper John Achterberg is to offer fans the chance to bid for the opportunity to get even closer to the action at his testimonial next month.

The Dutch legend is auctioning off special packages to give four lucky supporters the chance to play in the Heroes Match prior to his main Testimonial match on Monday 30th March, 2009.

There are also opportunities to bid on the chance to allow your child to be mascot on the night.

The Heroes Match is set to feature a number of club legends as a squad of players from the Wembley 2000 Cup Final team take on a host of other players to have played alongside John during his time at Tranmere.

The likes of David Kelly, Clint Hill, Georges Santos and Wayne Allison are expected to feature.

Four separate playing packages will be auctioned which will allow each winning bidder to play half of the match (20 minutes each way) for one of the two sides.

Several mascot packages will be available for both the Heroes Match as well as the main Tranmere vs Everton XI testimonial game.

Achterberg said: "It is great to be able to give the supporters a once in a lifetime chance to play with some of the heroes of the past and to do so at Prenton Park.

"The fans have been great to me during my time at Tranmere and so it is nice to be able to get them involved and closer to the action on what will be a special night for me, and hopefully one that they can enjoy as well."

The online auctions end on Wednesday 25th February having each run for seven days on ebay.
