Tranmere Youth Coach Shaun Garnett enjoyed a perfect Mersey Masters debut on Saturday night.

Rovers won all four games against Everton (twice), Liverpool and Wigan to earn a place in the grand finals in September.

Garnett, who was playing in the competition for the first time, said: " I thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. It was a great experience and I loved every minute of it.

"It was great to win the competition, especially in the manner we did it. My legs didn't allow me to participate as much as I'd have liked, but that was mostly because I had to do all of Kenny Irons' running for him!

"I'm looking forward to the final in September now and hopefully we'll have some great support again."
