He has now made more than 130 appearances for Tranmere, scoring 27 goals. In total he has made more than 570 career appearances.

New Tranmere Manager John Barnes said: "I'm delighted Ian has decided to stay at the Club.

"He is a very experienced player who is a proven goal scorer. I look forward to working with him, and the rest of the squad, in pre-season training."

Ian added: "I've really enjoyed my time back at Tranmere and am happy to have signed a new contract at the Club.
