Ian Thomas-Moore was delighted to clinch the winner for Rovers as they defeated Southampton 2-1 at Prenton Park.
The team captain netted from the penalty spot late in the game after Gareth Edds had been brought down and he hopes the win will lift confidence ahead of the Tuesday night home fixture against Leeds United.
He told Tranmere Player: "I've scored every penalty I've taken for Tranmere and it was a proper pressure penalty, so I was pleased to get the winner.
"If you'd have asked the Manager I think he'd have taken two points from the two games so with winning this today we're already a point ahead and we can go into the Leeds game nice and relaxed and hopefully get something from it.
"They've had two massive wins and have scored ten goals. Coming here they were full of confidence so to get a result against them is good for the lads.
"It would be great for me to get a win against Leeds with my history with them. They're having a little wobble at the moment so they'll need to win here and will push forward trying to get goals and hopefully that will play into our hands."
Meanwhile, Thomas-Moore said he was pleased to see fellow striker Bas Savage return to action after 11 months out with an Achilles injury.
He added: "It was a big bonus for the lads. He's a great character to have in the dressing room and we've missed his break dancing before the game!
"It's great to have him back and when he came on today he did really well."
