Bas Savage knows how David Beckham feels.

When the striker found out about the Achilles injury suffered by the England and AC Milan star, memories of his own spell out of action came flooding back.

Savage has now featured in three games in a row after missing almost 11 months with an Achilles injury suffered towards the end of last season.

Bas told www.tranmererovers.co.uk: "He'll be gutted. He's worked hard to get to a stage where he's got a decent chance of going to the World Cup and then this happens.

"Having been in the same position of injuring my Achilles it's tough to take. I did it last year - obviously not on the same stage he was at but I was pushing for a place in the Play Offs. You feel robbed of the chance.

"It's a really painful injury and it takes time to come back from but I'm sure he's got the best medical people looking after him."
