Les Looking For A Striker

Posted on: Mon 22 Mar 2010

Les Parry hopes to sign a striker early this week as the loan deadline approaches on Thursday.

The Manager is also looking to recruit a new left back as both Aaron Cresswell and Zoumana Bakayogo are forced to miss the weekend trip to Brighton & Hove Albion due to suspension.

The Manager told Tranmere Player: "We're hoping to get a striker in earlier and a left back. If we get players in early it will give a chance for other teams to have a look at our players and see if they want to take any who aren't involved. If we do it at the last minute there's no chance of that. There are players we're not prepared to let go, even ones who aren't in the team, as it would leave us short if we got injuries.

"We stopped looking for an out and out goalscorer a long time ago because nobody lets them go out on loan. So we've been looking for somebody who complements what we've already got, either a big striker who can hold it up, or a skilful striker who can bring other players into the game."

Meanwhile, Les said the Club had yet to received further news about the knee injury that kept Ian Thomas-Moore out of the Hartlepool match.

He added: "We're waiting to get the result of his scan and then we'll know a little bit more about what he needs doing if anything. Hopefully it will have settled down over the weekend with not playing. It's an inflammatory thing so the chances are it has."
