Tranmere have been drawn at home to Accrington Stanley in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The sides have played each other once before in the competition with Rovers winning 1-0 at Prenton Park in 2008 thanks to a goal from Edrissa Sonko, while Charlie Barnett, who came on for Tranmere as a substitute that night, now plays for Stanley and could be set for a quick return to his former club.

In all competitions Rovers have met the current Stanley three times, with two wins and one draw, while they played the previous Stanley (which went into liquidation in 1966) 64 times, winning 28 of the games and losing 25.

The tie will be played in the week commencing August 30.
