Accrington Stanley Charged By The FA

Posted on: Wed 08 Sep 2010

Accrington Stanley and player Ray Putterill have been charged by The FA after Putterill appeared in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy match whilst under a County FA suspension.

Putterill appeared for Accrington Stanley in a match against Tranmere Rovers on 31 August. It is alleged that this was a breach of FA rules as the player was under a suspension issued by Liverpool County FA. Putterill was given a 42 day suspension, effective from 30 August, for improper or insulting behaviour towards a match referee during a match in April 2010 whilst playing for Halewood Town.

Accrington and Putterill have until 13 September to respond to the charge. The Football League will be responsible for considering this matter with relation to Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition rules.

Accrington Stanley have been drawn at home to Stockport County in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
