Tranmere completed the signing of defender Marlon Broomes until June 2010 in September 2009.
Marlon, 31, began his career at Premier League side Blackburn Rovers where he made 39 appearances and won two England Under-21 caps. He joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2001 and spent time at Preston North End and Stoke City before joining Blackpool last season.
He joined Tranmere on a non-contract basis in August and impressed in the 4-0 Carling Cup First Round victory over Grimsby Town. Marlon had made 234 career appearances prior to joining Rovers. His contract was extended in the summer of 2010.
