Tranmere signed Ryan Shotton on loan from Stoke City in August 2008.
The defender, who is comfortable at right back or centre back, joined on an initial one month loan and made his debut against Accrington Stanley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
His first league start came against Oldham Athletic and his performance at centre back won him a number of Man of the Match awards.
