Tranmere Reserves in action against Wrexham

Tranmere's title hopes took a blow when a first half goal earned Wrexham three points in the Pontin's Holidays League at Buckley Town.

Craig Curran, Ash Taylor and Dave Wilson had brought saves out of the Red Dragons keeper when the home side took the lead on 43 minutes. A free kick conceded by Michael Johnston was whipped into the area and turned in at the second attempt by Andy Fleming.

Early in the second half Rovers came close to an equaliser when Paul Henry sent Steve Davies through on goal with a lofted pass. The striker ran on to a one on one with the keeper but saw his shot turned against the post and away to safety.
