Bury 0 Tranmere 1

Posted on: Wed 22 Aug 2007

Tranmere Reserves began their Pontin's Holidays League campaign with a win over Bury at Radcliffe Borough FC today.

Rovers left it late for the win, with second year scholar Terry Gornell netting in the 86th minute. Defending a corner, the ball fell to Adnan Ahmed and the midfielder played a neat through ball to Gornell who ran from the halfway line and slotted it past the advancing keeper.

Coach Shaun Garnett said: "It was red hot and Bury started well but we did well to keep it tight at the back and stop them from scoring.

"There weren't too many chances and I'd have taken a draw so to get the win late on was very pleasing.

"It was a good all round team performance and the professionals we had out did well for us."
